Rob Moore MP and Minister Cannon at Transport Canada Hangar Official Opening

November 30, 2006 -- Moncton, NB -- Fundy Royal Member of Parliament Rob Moore was on hand during the official opening of the new Transport Canada Hangar at the Moncton Airport. The construction of the new facility was completed in February 2006 at a total estimated project cost of $8.5 million.

The funding was required to replace the old wooden facility that was built in 1942 for the Royal Canadian Air Force to support military operations during World War II. The new hangar will house Transport Canada's existing complement of aircraft and a fixed wing aircraft in support of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police aircraft operations.

"I'm pleased to be here today with Minister Cannon," said Moore. "This investment will help the Government of Canada provide crucial operational and maintenance support for its air fleet and help retain highly skilled employees in this community."
