Rob Moore Presents Veterans' Week 2007 Poster to Mayor Norm McFarlane

November 8, 2007 -- SAINT JOHN (NB) -- Rob Moore, M.P. for Fundy Royal today presented the Veterans' Week 2007 poster to the city of Saint John, New Brunswick. His Worship Mayor Norm McFarlane accepted the poster at City Hall where it will be on display in the Mayor's office.

"The 2007 Veterans' Week poster is a graphic tribute to those who served Canada at home and around the world," said Mr. Moore. "The 2007 Veterans' Week poster symbolizes the Canadian tradition of working to bring stability and peace to parts of the world in turmoil. It depicts Canadians proudly marching during the Korean War, training in preparation for the mission in Afghanistan, and a lone Veteran of the Second World War bowing his head in remembrance of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice."

Displaying the Veterans' Week poster in the Mayor's office is a yearly tradition in Saint John. Each year the contributions of Veterans are commemorated with this poster.

"Remembrance should not be confined to a single week each year," continued Mr. Moore. "Our Government is committed to improving our programs and services to those Veterans who have contributed so much to defend Canada."

The Federal Government has recently appointed Col. Pat Stogran as Canada's first Veterans Ombudsman. Col. Stogran will serve as an advocate for Veterans across the country. His main responsibilities will be to act upon the concerns and issues of Veterans while upholding the new Veterans' Bill of Rights.
