Rob Moore Re-Appointed as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice

November 7, 2008 –- Ottawa, Ontario -- MP Rob Moore was re-appointed today as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice. Mr. Moore served in this position in the last Parliament.

"I look forward to resuming my duties as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice," said Mr. Moore. "Ever since our government was first elected in 2006, we have strengthened Canada's justice system in a number of ways. During the recent campaign, we made some new proposals, particularly with regards to house arrest and serious, violent repeat offenders that I believe will provide greater legislative protections for all Canadians."

The duties of a Parliamentary Secretary include representing the Minister in Parliament and at committee hearings. In the last Parliament, Mr. Moore played an integral role in ensuring the passage of such legislation as the Tackling Violent Crime Act, which, among other things, raised the age of consent and brought in new provisions to help police investigate drug-impaired driving.

Rob Moore is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and the MP for Fundy Royal.
