Stephen Harper kicks off N.B. Summer Tour in Fundy Royal

Stephen Harper kicked off his New Brunswick tour with a visit to Quispamsis in Fundy Royal, Thursday August 18th, 2005. A large crowd of supporters gathered at Tim Horton’s in Quispamsis to meet the Leader of the Official Opposition. All who came had an opportunity to meet Stephen and spend some time with him. Mr. Harper had just arrived from touring a number of ridings in Nova Scotia as part of the 2005 Summer Tour and was on his way to events in Saint John. Rob greeted Mr. Harper as he arrived at the Saint John airport and drove him and Conservative Candidate for Saint John, John Wallace to Quispamsis and then on to Saint John. They toured the waterfront and met with Mayor Norm McFarlane to discuss issues of importance to Saint John and area.

Following the media scrum, the Leader attended some additional meetings and then arrived at the Millidgeville North High School where over 300 people attended a BBQ. Rob was the Master of Ceremonies and thanked all those who had worked so hard to put on such a successful event. Rob then went on to introduce John Wallace who is the Conservative Party Candidate in Saint John. Mr. Wallace then introduced the Leader, Stephen Harper, who delivered a speech that was interrupted by applause on many occasions. Following the speech John Wallace, Stephen Harper and MLA Trevor Holder served at the BBQ. A great time was had by all. Mr. Harper departed from Ragged Point by Float Plane at around 7pm for Perth Andover. The following day Mr. Harper visited St. Leonard in Madawaska-Restigouche Riding, St. Andre and Hartland in Tobique-Mactaquac Riding and ended up in Fredericton Riding for a BBQ at the Marysville Heritage and Community Centre. A large crowd of over 400 people came out to see the Leader in Fredericton. Rob again acted as Master of Ceremonies and following his remarks he introduced Pat Lynch the Conservative Party Candidate in Fredericton. Pat then introduced the Leader and the Stephen spoke to the crowd. Again his message was well received and applause was frequent during the speech. Following the speeches photos were taken of Rob and Stephen Harper with the Conservative Party Candidates from eight of the ten federal ridings of New Brunswick. Many people came up to introduce themselves to Stephen and wished him well before he left.
