Rob Moore Delivers Opening Remarks at IAAF Banquet

July 18, 2010 -- Moncton, NB -- The Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of Small Business and Tourism and MP for Fundy Royal, delivered the opening remarks at the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Junior Championships Banquet. The dinner was hosted to recognize the international delegations to the IAAF, which were present at the reception and banquet.

The IAAF World Junior Championships will be held in Moncton, New Brunswick, from July 19 to 25, 2010, and are the largest international sporting event to be held in Atlantic Canada. More than 170 countries are expected to participate, attracting more than 2,000 athletes, their coaches, and championship officials.

Canada has previously hosted five IAAF events. Our government has contributed $12.8 million to this event through Canadian Heritage and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
