Governments work together to build FUNDY CIVIC CENTRE

July 9, 2007 Sussex, NB – A new civic centre worth $4.6 million will be built thanks to a funding partnership between the Canadian Government, the Government of New Brunswick and the Town of Sussex.

The joint federal, provincial and municipal infrastructure project was announced today by Mr. Rob Moore, Member of Parliament for Fundy Royal; the Honourable Shawn Graham, Premier of New Brunswick; and Mr. Ralph Carr, Mayor of Sussex.

"Canada's Government is getting things done for the people of New Brunswick," said MP Moore, on behalf of the Government of Canada and (ACOA). "Thanks to our government's investment of more than $1.3 million, this new fitness centre will benefit the health and well being of residents in Sussex and the surrounding area for years to come."

The project involves the construction of a new indoor aquatic and fitness centre in Sussex. The facility will include a six-lane 25 metre long competition indoor pool, a swirl pool for seniors, a walking track, and a fitness centre.

Each of the three funding partners will contribute one third, or just over $1.33 million, of the eligible cost of the Sussex project. The investment is made possible through the Canada-New Brunswick Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund.
