Premier Lord, Rob Moore MP and Mayor Mitton unveil plans for Kay Community Centre

July 5 --- Moncton -- Design details were unveiled at a joint gathering at the Kay Arena site when Premier Bernard Lord, MP Rob Moore Fundy Royal joins Moncton Mayor Lorne Mitton and members of the Kay Community Centre Foundation showed off the plans for a resurrected community centre to replace the aged arena.

The centre will now include an NHL-size ice surface to Hockey Canada specifications with seating for 500, a high school-sized gymnasium for basketball and other sports, an indoor walking track suspended above the gymnasium, a 900 square metre (10,000 square ft.) fitness centre with glass wall overlooking the rink, and 900 square metres (10,000 square feet) of meeting space that can be partioned into smaller segments.

The $6.5-million facility is being built with $3.15 million from the city, $1. 9 million from the province, $1.1 million from the federal government and the remainder, about $450,000, from community fundraising.
