Ground-breaking For Quispamsis qplex

June 29, 2009 -- Quispamsis, New Brunswick -- MP Rob Moore was pleased to represent the Government of Canada at the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Quispamsis qplex today.

"This is a great day for Quispamsis," said MP Moore. "Our government has supported the qplex from its earliest stages, and I am pleased today to help mark the beginning of construction."

The Quispamsis qplex will be a central facility for sports, leisure, and business and will boast a cutting-edge design that will make it one of the first facilities in Atlantic Canada to be designed and constructed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEEDŽ) standards.

The Government of Canada has been a strong contributor to the qplex. Earlier this year, Mr. Moore announced that this project will receive $3 million from the federal government through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. He later announced that it will also receive $2.3 million through the Green Municipal Fund. This support comes in the form of a $300,000.00 grant and a low interest $2 Million dollar loan provided through the Green Municipal Fund, an endowment financed by the Government of Canada.

"Once completed, the qplex will be a great benefit to this region, attracting business, bringing the community together, and improving the quality of life in this region," said Mr. Moore.

Rob Moore is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and the MP for Fundy Royal.
