Government of Canada Invests in KV Fields Project

June 24, 2009 -- Quispamsis, New Brunswick -- MP Rob Moore today joined MP Rodney Weston for an announcement of funding to the Kennebecasis Valley (KV) Fields Project. The Government of Canada is investing $250,000 to refurbish two sports fields in Quispamsis.

"Our government is committed to supporting healthy, active communities," said MP Moore. "This project will greatly benefit people living in the Kennebecasis Valley, providing a much-needed upgrade to existing recreational facilities."

The project this investment supports consists of replacing two sod sports fields, located behind Kennebecasis Valley High School, with multi-purpose artificial turf surfaces. These more durable fields will allow for a longer, safer playing season.

The funds for this project come from the federal Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program. This program, introduced in Canada’s Economic Action Plan, devotes $500-million over two years for upgrading and renewing recreational facilities in communities across Canada.

Rob Moore is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and the MP for Fundy Royal.
