Construction of New Maritime Motor Sports Hall of Fame gets under way
June 7, 2008 -- Petitcodiac, New Brunswick -- MP Rob Moore today participated in a sod-turning ceremony for the Maritime Motor Sports Hall of Fame located in Petitcodiac, New Brunswick. The Federal Government is investing $551,500 in the project through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s Innovative Communities Fund.
“Our government is committed to supporting projects that enhance economic opportunities for communities like Petitcodiac,” said Mr. Moore. “This project will help to increase sales and employment for local businesses by drawing more visitors to the village and the surrounding area.”
The Maritime Motor Sports Hall of Fame is expected to draw a minimum of 10,500 visitors in its first full year of operation, increasing to over 11,500 by the third year. Visiting motor sports enthusiasts from across Canada and the United States will have a significant impact on the economy of the Village of Petitcodiac.
“The Maritime Motor Sports Hall of Fame will showcase the history of all competitive and recreational motor sports in the region,” said Mr. Moore. “Through ACOA, our total investment of $551,500 has helped make this project a reality.”
Since taking office, Canada’s Conservative Government has invested nearly $554 million in close to 850 projects across Atlantic Canada.
Rob Moore is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and the MP for Fundy Royal.
