Moore Pleased With Second Round of Funding for Canada Summer Jobs Program
May 22, 2007 -- Ottawa -- The Honourable Monte Solberg, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development has announced a second round of funding through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. HRSDC will be taking a second look at groups that have been funded in the past and have not been able to find alternative arrangements for this summer.
"I took the concerns of groups that were denied funding in the first round to Minister Solberg and I am happy that he listened and directed his department to look into the situation" said Moore.
Historically, there have always been two rounds of funding for the summer employment programs. During the second round worthy groups who provide valuable services will be reconsidered.
"I am happy that the Minister was willing to listen and act on the concerns brought forward about organizations that were denied funding. Our government will continue to give organizations and students' access to jobs that would not be there without our help."
Successful groups will be contacted starting Tuesday.
