Minister Rob Moore participates in Charity Hockey Match
April 26, 2010 - Ottawa, Ontario - Minister Rob Moore played today in the Firefighter and Conservative MPs Charity Hockey Match in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Fund.
Fifteen firefighters and fifteen Members of Parliament played in the hockey game to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Canada. The game helped raise $1400 in support of the fight against Muscular Dystrophy.
Muscular dystrophy refers to a group of genetically transmitted diseases that weaken the muscles that help the body move. Those who have the disease can gradually lose the ability to do the things most people take for granted, like walking or sitting up. There is unfortunately no known cure for muscular dystrophy, and researchers are continuing to search for new treatments and a way to finally eliminate the disease.
