Minister Rob Moore speaks at the 2010 Sport Events Congress

April 24, 2010 - Toronto, Ontario - The Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State for Small Business and Tourism spoke yesterday at the 2010 Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA) Sport Events Congress, which ran from April 21-23 at the Doubletree by Hilton-Toronto Airport Hotel. The 2010 Sport Events Congress is presented by EventsGraphics (http://www.eventgraphics.com/) in cooperation with Tourism Toronto.

Addressing the annual convention of sport tourism leaders, Minister Moore's speech touched on the positive impact that sport tourism has on the Canadian economy. He also reviewed the success of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games and spoke about the upcoming 2015 Pan Am Games, which will be held in Toronto.

Other notable presentations during the three-day event included a state of the industry keynote address by Mr. David Whitaker, President & CEO of Tourism Toronto on April 21, as well as a speech also on April 23 by Keith Pelley, President of Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium, reviewing the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

The CSTA also presented its annual PRESTIGE Awards at a gala on Thursday. These awards are presented to individuals, companies and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the success of the sport tourism industry.
