Government of Canada issues Call for Proposals: New Horizons for Seniors Program

April 17, 2009 -- Ottawa, Ontario -- Today MP Rob Moore welcomed the Government of Canada’s recent call for proposals under the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP).

"This program is an important one for seniors across the country," said Mr. Moore. "Through New Horizons for Seniors our government has enabled seniors to become more involved in their communities and to share their valuable experience and wisdom."

The government announced that it will be accepting proposals under the Community Participation and Leadership component of NHSP, a component that provides funding for projects that encourage seniors’ participation in their communities. Organizations will have until June 12, 2009, to submit applications for this round.

"I have had the privilege of announcing federal funding to numerous seniors groups across Fundy Royal," said Mr. Moore. "This new call for proposals means that seniors in New Brunswick can expect further investments and support from our government."

In recent weeks, MP Moore has represented the federal government at several NHSP funding announcements in various communities.

"As a result of our government’s investments, we’re seeing more seniors actively involved in their communities," added Mr. Moore. "Our seniors have a lot to offer our communities, and our government wants to enable them to share it."

"I strongly encourage all organizations in my riding that offer programs for seniors to apply for funding."
