Rob Moore, MP says Q-Plex one step closer to becoming a reality

Quispamsis, New Brunswick – February 19, 2008 – Quispamsis is now one step closer to the construction of a new multi-million dollar sports and recreational facility. Rob Moore, MP for Fundy Royal today announced a federal funding commitment of $3 million for the “Q-Plex”.

“I was privileged to be able to play minor hockey and pick-up hockey in our Valley arenas,” said Mr. Moore. “The Kennebecasis Valley is growing. Our recreational facilities must keep pace.”

Federal funding of up to $3 million for eligible costs under the government’s Innovative Communities Fund (ICF) is contingent on a successful environmental impact assessment and confirmation of other sources of funding from outside ACOA.

“The Valley is growing, there’s a great quality of life here and it’s a great place to raise a family,” said Mr. Moore. “I was determined to ensure that the federal government played a funding role in this endeavour. That’s why I took this concept to our national caucus meeting last summer. Once there has been a successful completion of the required due diligence our government will be a major funding partner for this project.”

Rob Moore is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and the MP for Fundy Royal.
