Town of Hampton to benefit from Canada-New Brunswick Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund investments

January 8th 2007 -- Hampton, NB –- Rob Moore, MP for Fundy Royal, on behalf of the Government of Canada announced two major infrastructure investments for the Town of Hampton's water and wastewater system. A total of $1,034,305 will go towards the two Canada-New Brunswick Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund projects.

Rob Moore, MP for Fundy Royal and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, represented ACOA, Hon. Roly MacIntyre, Minister of Supply and Services and Minister for the Regional Development Corporation, represented the Province of New Brunswick and James Hovey, Mayor of Hampton represented the Municipality at the funding announcement.

Among the benefits for the outlined infrastructure work is the creation of a new viable community water source and improved effluent treatment for 700 households.

"Our Federal Government is getting things done for the people of Hampton by investing in the upgrade of their water and wastewater system," said MP Rob Moore. "Infrastructure projects are vitally important to our communities and the people that live in them."

"The Town of Hampton is very pleased to partner with the Government of Canada and the Province of New Brunswick to address two very strategic investments in the future of our community," said Mayor Hovey.

Each of the three funding partners will contribute one third ($344,767) of the eligible cost of the Hampton projects.
