Rob Moore MP takes issue with comments regarding arenas.

RE: "Big Municipal Reforms Urged" Jan 6, 2012 Telegraph Journal

January 6th, 2012 - "I'm concerned with what seems to be implied by the article. That is, that Quispamsis should not have had the right to build the Q Plex. "The Q-Plex has been a huge success in my view and it is the first new public arena built in the Saint John area since Harbour Station." In the Article Finn cites the proliferation of arenas in recent years. "As the MP for Fundy Royal I must take strong issue with this assertion. One of the great things about our communities is the availability of recreational infrastructure. I'm pleased to have been able to secure Federal funding for the Q-Plex, as well as funding for upgrades to arenas in St. Martins, Sussex and Petitcodiac. I take issue with any suggestion that these communities should not have local recreational infrastructure in place. I also take issue that one new arena in the Kennebecasis Valley in many decades is somehow a 'proliferation'."

"The Kennebecasis Valley is a fast growing community and a wonderful place to raise a family. Continuing to invest in recreational infrastructure like the Q-Plex, Arthur Miller Fields and the KV fields will ensure that Quispamsis and Rothesay remain strong and healthy communities.

If the vision of regionalization is simply that so called outlying communities get to pay for projects in larger centers, then New Brunswickers would be right to want no part of it. Cooperation between communities is something that should be encouraged. Taking shots at the Q-Plex is not constructive."
